THE BRAVE ONE — A brutal attack leaves New York City radio host Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) badly wounded and her fiance dead. Unable to move past the tragedy, she begins prowling the city streets at night to track down the men she holds responsible. With the NYPD desperate to find the culprit and a dogged police detective (Terrence Howard) hot on her trail, Erica must decide whether her quest for revenge is truly the right path, or if she is becoming the very thing she is trying to stop. DRAGON WARS — A beautiful young woman possesses the power to transform a legendary giant serpent into an almighty dragon that can only ascend into heaven with the woman's ultimate sacrifice. MR. WOODCOCK — John Farley (William Scott), a self-help author who returns to his hometown, discovers that his mother (Susan Sarandon) has fallen in love with his high school nemesis, Mr. Woodcock (Billy Bob Thornton), a gruff, no-nonsense gym teacher who had put him through years of mental and physical humiliation. DADDY DAY CAMP — This sequel to the comedy "Daddy Day Care" finds dads Charlie Hinton (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and Phil Ryerson (Paul Rae) in another adventure as they take over running a summer day camp. Rated PG (Tristar Pictures). AP

DEATH SENTENCE — Nick Hume (Kevin Bacon) is a mild-mannered executive with a perfect life until one gruesome night when he witnesses something that changes him forever. Transformed by grief, Hume eventually comes to the disturbing conclusion that no length is too great to go to protect his family. Rated R (Twentieth Century Fox). MJR

DINOSAURS ALIVE! 3D — From the sand dunes of Mongolia's Gobi Desert to the sandstone buttes of New Mexico, the film follows American Museum of Natural History paleontologists as they explore some of the greatest dinosaur finds in history. IMAX

EVAN ALMIGHTY —Newly elected to Congress, preening newscaster Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) leaves Buffalo behind and moves his family to northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God (Morgan Freeman) appears and anoints him to accomplish a holy mission of biblical proportions. Rated PG (Universal Pictures). AP

1408 — In this Steven King story, novelist Mike Enslin (John Cusack) publishes a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world. Then he checks into suite 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel, defying the warnings of the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson). Rated PG-13 (MGM). AP

HAIRSPRAY — Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of the same name, this latest version stars John Travolta as the mother of one of the starstruck teens who appear on a Baltimore dance show. Also stars Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Zak Efron and Amanda Bynes. Rated PG (New Line Cinema). MJR

HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX — As his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry approaches, 15-year-old Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is in full-blown adolescence, and feeling especially edgy at the lack of news from the magic world, wondering when the freshly revived evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) will strike. I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY —Chuck Ford (Adam Sandler) owes fellow Philadelphia firefighter Larry Allensworth (Kevin James) for saving his life in a fire. KNOCKED UP — Allison Scott (Katherine Heigl) is an up-and-coming entertainment journalist on the fast track. LICENSE TO WED — Newly engaged, Ben Murphy and Sadie Jones (Mandy Moore), must submit to a marriage prep course that includes outrageous classes and outlandish homework assignments devised by their charismatic pastor, the Rev. Frank (Robin Williams). Rated PG-13 (Warner Bros.). AP

LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD — Bruce Willis reprises his signature role as New York City cop John McClane as an attack on the vulnerable United States computer infrastructure begins to shut down the entire nation. MR. BEAN'S HOLIDAY — Tired of the dreary, wet London weather, Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson), a nearly wordless misfit who seems to be followed by a trail of pratfalls and hijinks, heads to Cannes for some sun on the beach. The bumbling Bean falls face first into a series of mishaps and fortunate coincidences to wreak havoc across the French countryside. Rated G (Universal Pictures). MJR

THE NANNY DIARIES — Based on the bestselling novel by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, the film follows a New York University student (Scarlett Johansson), who is a nanny to a family on the Upper East Side that turns out to be the family from hell. Rated PG-13 (The Weinstein Company/ MFM). MJR

RUSH HOUR 3 — For this third installment of the action comedies, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan return in the roles as LAPD Detective Carter and Chinese Chief Inspector Lee, respectively. SHOOT 'EM UP — In this thriller, Clive Owen stars as Mr. Smith, a mysterious loner who teams up with an unlikely ally (Monica Belluci) to protect a newborn baby from a determined criminal (Paul Giamatti) who hunts them throughout the city. Rated R (New Line Cinema). MJR, AMC

THE SIMPSONS MOVIE — Based on the hit TV series, Homer Simpson must save the world from a catastrophe he himself created. Voices include those of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria, Pamela Hayden and Albert Brooks. Rated PG-13 (Twentieth Century Fox). AMC

STARDUST — This fantasy epic follows the adventures of Tristan Thorne (Charlie Cox), who promises to bring a fallen star to the prettiest girl in the village (Sienna Miller). He enters a mysterious, magical kingdom where he discovers that the fallen star is not a meteorite, but a beautiful, spirited young woman (Claire Danes). SUPERBAD — Now that two socially inept teenage boys who are best friends are going to different colleges, they are forced to contemplate life apart. 3:10 TO YUMA — In 1880s Arizona, infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his gang of thieves and murderers have plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale), struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver Wade alive to the 3:10 to Yuma, a train that will take the killer to trial. UNDERDOG — After an accident in the lab of maniacal scientist Dr. Simon Barsinister (Peter Dink-lage), an ordinary beagle finds himself with unimaginable powers and the ability to speak.
