Make your own piece of history as Longaberger, America's premier maker of handcrafted baskets, comes to Greenfield Village for its first Basket Fest today through Sept. 23.
"We are excited to be partnered with a company like Longaberger for this event because we both find inspiration in American tradition," said John Neilson, director of Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. "Greenfield Village is the perfect historic environment for a similarly historic company."
Founded in 1973, The Longaberger Co. is America's premier maker of handcrafted baskets and offers a variety of other home and lifestyle products, including pottery and other tableware, wrought iron, fabric accessories, jewelry, handbags and specialty foods. There are approximately 45,000 independent home consultants throughout the United States who sell Longaberger products directly to customers.
At Greenfield Village, the Longaberger Basket Fest package includes a one-day pass to Greenfield Village.
Guests will get the chance to make a basket with an expert Longaberger basket maker. This experience allows participants to join in an American and Longaberger tradition in creating a "Greenfield Village Event Basket" a Longaberger Medium Chore Basket with red and blue trim strips and personalized with Model T tack jackets. Reservations are recommended.
At the Homestead at Home Store, guests will be able to shop for select home decor, clothing, collectibles and gift items.
Each day, a Longaberger family member will be available to sign your favorite Longaberger products. Today, Collection Club members have the opportunity to weave a special Collector's Club version of the "Make a Basket," featuring a Longaberger family member's signature and special handles.
Throughout the event, there will be hourly Longaberger basket giveaways.
