The Trenton Parks and Recreation Department and Home Sweet Home are hosting an antique market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Trenton Cultural Center, 2427 West Road.
The grounds of the center will be filled with dealers of quality antiques from the Downriver area, as well as Monroe, Pinckney, Kalamazoo and Toledo, Ohio. They will be offering furniture, textiles, china, glassware, dolls, garden accents, jewelry, architectural items, Victorian ladies' accessories, pottery and toys.
Guests can bring their own antiques for appraisal. Representatives from the prestigious DuMouchelle Art Gallery in Detroit will visit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to give their educated estimates of those family heirlooms.
There will be a $5 appraisal charge per item, and there is a two-item limit per person. Appraisal tickets can be purchased in advance at Home Sweet Home, 2338 West Road, Trenton.
Alora's Attic Antiques also will be on hand to offer appraisals on antique and vintage dolls.
For those who are looking to part with their antiques, there will be a communitywide booth for those who have an item or two to sell.
Those who want to sell an item at the booth have two options: They can work half a day at the market and then pay a 10 percent commission on the sale of their item, or not work and pay a 25 percent commission.
For more information on the communitywide antique booth, including help in pricing your items, call Carol Usher at Home Sweet Home, 1-734-671-5360.
Parking and admission to the antiques market are free. Light refreshments will be available. For more information, call 1-734-675-7300.
