"The Marriage Proposal" focuses on the tendency of wealthy families to seek out other wealthy families to increase their estates by encouraging marriages that make "good economic sense."
"The Seagull" centers on a famous actress, Arkardina, as she presides over a household destroyed by desperate love while she has dreams of success and a dread of failure.
