The wordsmith recently announced that she is pregnant with her third child.



Actress Laura Dern is expecting her second child with rocker husband Ben Harper at the end of the year.

The Dixie Chicks' flock keeps getting bigger.

Singer Natalie Maines gave birth to her second child, a son named Beckett Finn, on July 14.

Maines and husband Adrian Pasdar already have a 3-year-old son.



Singer Erykah Badu is kickin' it old school with her second child, a girl she named Puma.

The neo-soul singer denies that the baby is named after the athletic shoe.

Puma joins big brother, Seven, who's the son of OutKast's Andre 3000.



"Access Hollywood" anchor Tony Potts and wife Nancy Derderian, who works as a producer on the show, welcomed a daughter named Bella Angel on July 12.

It's the first bundle of joy for the couple.

Pop diva Britney Spears will have to play stepmom to two little ones soon.

In a blast from the past, pop singer Linda Rondstat was tossed out of the Aladdin Hotel Casino in Las Vegas last week for praising filmmaker Michael Moore and his latest work, "Fahrenheit 9/11."

Fibbing



Looks like the boy might never have been hers.

The supposed ex-husband of R&B singer Brandy is claiming that the two were never actually married.

Producer Robert Smith claims that the union was fabricated during the singer's pregnancy.

Arrested



England's latest royal couple, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and soccer star hubby David Beckham might want to build a fortress around their home.

The pop tart was home alone with her two children, Brooklyn and Romeo, when an unidentified man with a can of gasoline and a crowbar was arrested after scaling a seven-foot wall around the mansion.

A security team tackled him as he approached the estate and held him until police arrived.

The would-be arsonist was arrested on suspicion of possessing an article intended to cause criminal damage and later released on bail.



Life after "Baywatch" isn't a beach for actor Michael Bergin, who was arrested recently on suspicion of hitting a pedestrian inline skater while driving under the influence.

Bergin later was released on $50,000 bail and no court date has been set yet.

Dropped



Actress Whoopi Goldberg was booted as the spokeswoman for Slim-Fast recently after making jokes about President George W. Bush at a fund-raiser for his opponent John Kerry on July 8.

Fined



"Sex and the City" star Kristin Davis was busted by Los Angeles police recently for having the windows of her car tinted too dark.

In Court

Soon-to-be Mr. Britney Spears Kevin Federline recently was sued by a car dealership in California for bouncing a $1,600 check he wrote for the down payment on a truck.



Pop singer Justin Timberlake is crying a river over a story in a British tabloid that claims he cheated on his girlfriend, actress Cameron Diaz, with a model.

Timberlake is suing the publication saying that the story was fabricated.

The former brokerage assistant to domestic goddess Martha Stewart won't be joining her behind bars.

Douglas Faneuil must pay a $2,000 fine for his role in the debacle.



More than 200 family members affected by the 2003 Rhode Island nightclub fire that killed 100 people have filed suit against a number of defendants, including rockers Great White.



A former writer on the hit sitcom "Friends" wasn't feeling too friendly while on the set.

The woman is bringing a sexual and racial harassment lawsuit against several of the show's writers, claiming that she had to endure sexual and ethnic slurs while on the job.



A woman injured by a flying Koosh ball on Rosie O'Donnell's former talk show settled a lawsuit over the incident out of court recently.

The woman was seeking $3 million from the show and its producers, but terms of the settlement were not released.

No charges will be filed in the case of a 22-year-old woman who said she was raped while in the house of the MTV reality show "The Real World."

Prosecutors cited insufficient evidence. The alleged victim claimed she was sexually assaulted by a friend of a "Real World" cast member.



Shock jock Howard Stern, who was kicked off a half-dozen Clear Channel radio stations earlier this year, is now facing a $3 million lawsuit from the radio giant.

The company claims Stern and his distributor, Infinity Broadcasting, violated their contract by airing indecent programs.

Three members of the Los Angeles-based funk/hip-hop band Ozomatli pleaded no contest to charges from a March bout with Austin police in March after a concert spilled out onto a street during the city's South by Southwest music conference.

Ailing



"Survivor: All Stars" contestant Jenna Morasca suffered an infection after a spider bit her on the wrist recently.



Twin tycoon-actress Mary-Kate Olsen was released from a treatment facility last week after completing an eating disorder program.

Deaths



Jazz saxophonist Illinois Jacquet, who played with greats from Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole to Ella Fitzgerald and Miles Davis, died of a heart attack last Thursday He was 81.

Composer Jerry Goldsmith, who created the scores to films such as "Star Trek" and TV shows such as "The Waltons" and "Perry Mason," died in his sleep Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. He was 75.

Novelist Walter Wagner, whose crime thriller "58 Minutes" was the basis for the flick "Die Hard 2," died July 11 of complications from brain cancer. He was 79.

Actress and '40s cover girl Dorothy Hart, best known for her roles in "The Naked City" and "Tarzan's Savage Fury," died from complications of Alzheimer's disease on July 11. She was 82.

Puppeteer Peter Baird, who worked on "The Muppets Take Manhattan," died July 16 of esophageal cancer at the age of 52.
