MUSIC TO YOUR EARS



Huron Valley Eagles Aerie 3732, 13636 Telegraph, Flat Rock, presents bluegrass music at 8 p.m. Saturdays.

This week, Marion Blue is on tap.

Tickets are $7. Children 12 and younger get in free with a parent.

There will also be a spaghetti dinner available for $5 per person.

The Taylor Town Trade Center, 22525 Ecorse Road, presents "The Taylor Town Opry," live music from 2 to 5 p.m. every Friday.

The concerts are free. All ages are welcome.

Lake Erie Metropark will host the "Country Music Roundup" from 6 to 9:30 p.m. today.

The concert will include The Cadillac Cowboys and Terry Lea and the Mustangs.

The concert is free with regular park admission. Food and beverages will be sold, and a dance area will be available.

The Candy Band, a group of die-hard rocker moms, will perform live at the Henry Ford Museum tomorrow as part of the museum's summer concert series celebrating the "Rock Stars' Cars & Guitars" exhibit on display through Sept. 30.

Known for their hard rock versions of nursery rhymes, movie themes and other children's favorites, Candy Band has gained national attention.

Southgate's Concerts in the Park Series concludes with the Downriver Community Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21.

The concerts are held at the gazebo outside city hall, 14400 Dix-Toledo Road.

The Lincoln Park Summer Concert Series brings a variety of music to Memorial Park all summer long. Each concert takes place from 7 to 9 p.m.

Upcoming concerts include Kentucky Chrome (western) Thursday and the Ed Zelenak Band (variety/dance music) Aug. 9.

The concerts are free.

Sit back under a tree with an ice-cold lemonade and enjoy the interactive, kid-friendly music at the "Lemonade and Shade Concerts" at the Trenton Cultural Center, 2427 West Road.

The series concludes with The Candy Band at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 16.

What better way to chill out on summer nights than to bring a chair or blanket and sip coffee under the stars as you listen to music at the free Outdoor Coffeehouse Concert Series at the Trenton Cultural Center, 2427 West Road.

The final concert of the series will be The Hummingbirds at 7 p.m. Aug. 16.

Wyandotte Waterside Concerts take place all summer from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Bishop Park.

Upcoming concerts include Mood Swings on Wednesday and Pelts and Company Aug. 15.

The concerts are free.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra performs the grand finale of its 2007 summer season with a trio of concerts at Meadow Brook Music Festival Aug. 3 - 5.

Opening the weekend is conductor Arild Remmereit with a program titled "Classical Hits" at 8 p.m. next Friday.

Guest conductor Christoph Campestrini leads the next two concerts, beginning with the haunting chants of "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana at 8 p.m. Aug. 4.

The final concert, at 7:30 Aug. 5, is a "Tchaikovsky Spectacular" featuring the 1812 Overture and starring teenage soloist Elena Urioste, the 2007 Sphinx Competition winner.

Tickets to the DSO at Meadow Brook Music Festival range from $15 on the lawn to $50 in the pavilion. Tickets are on sale at Palacenet.com, the Palace box office and all Ticketmaster centers. Special group discounts are available by calling 1-248-371-2055.

Legendary rock band Deep Purple plays the DTE Energy Music Theatre at 7:30 p.m. next Friday. Tickets are $35.50 pavilion and $15 lawn.

Country music superstar Randy Travis will perform at DTE with special guest Cole Deggs & The Lonesome at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Tickets are $35.50 pavilion and $10 lawn.

Blues and soul legends B.B. King, Al Green and Etta James and her Roots Band bring the "2007 B.B. King Blues Festival" to DTE at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $79.50 pavilion and $25 lawn.

Poison, one of rock's most iconic and enduring bands, along with special guests Ratt and White Lion, come to DTE at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $42.50 pavilion and $26 lawn.
