TALK OF THE TOWN

Baseball greats, historians and enthusiasts alike will gather for a special tribute, "Jackie Robinson Breaks the Color Barrier - 60th Anniversary Forum" from noon to 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Anderson Theatre, inside the Henry Ford Museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn. Free tickets for the lecture will be distributed in The Henry Ford IMAX Theatre lobby starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.

The lecture will feature a panel of baseball luminaries and notable historians who have extensively studied Robinson's career and his impact on the sport. This event is being held in partnership with the Detroit Tigers as a part of their fourth annual Negro Leagues Weekend Celebration.

Panelists scheduled to take part in this presentation include Lawrence Hogan, senior professor of history at New Jersey's Union County College, a nationally recognized expert on the history of African-Americans in baseball and author of "Shades of Glory: The Negro Leagues and the Story of African-American Baseball;" Ernie Harwell, who, prior to his long tenure as the voice of the Detroit Tigers, started his big league broadcasting career in 1948 with Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers; Della Britton Baeza, president and chief executive officer of the Jackie Robinson Foundation; former Detroit Tigers outfielder Gates Brown; and current Tigers centerfielder Curtis Granderson.

Audience members will be able to ask questions of the panelists, as well as see the premiere of a new film.
