'Steel Magnolias'
The Dearborn Recreation Cultural Arts Department is having auditions for "Steel Magnolias" from 6 to 10 p.m. today in the Club Room of the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., Dearborn.
"Steel Magnolias" is the story of a close-knit group of women at Truvy's Beauty Salon, the unofficial hub of Chinquapin, La., who have lots of time to gossip.
Their husbands -- absent, depressed or dead -- have made sure of that. Consequently, visitors to the salon get more than a wash and cut.
There are roles open for six women. Callbacks will be held tomorrow in the Fitness & Wellness Room (time will be announced when called).
Rehearsals will generally be from 7-10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Stage technicians also are needed, and are encouraged to come to auditions, as well.
Performance dates run from Sept. 13-16, with all performances in the center's Studio A.
For more information, call 1-313-943-2190.
