"Tadpoles" ages 2 to 5 will put together "Nature Notebooks" at 10 a.m. July 12 at Oakwoods Metropark in Huron Township for $4.

"Nature NUTS" ages 6 to 10 will focus on insects at 10 a.m. July 12 for a $4 fee.

Take a "Historical Oakwoods Canoe Tour" at 10 a.m., noon or 2 p.m. July 12 for a $4 fee.

Imagine the park as it used to be while paddling along its banks in a 34-foot canoe.

Reel in some fun during a "Fishing Fun Camp" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 5 to 8 for children ages 8 to 15. The fee is $75 a child and $60 for each additional child.

Preregistration and vehicle entry permits are required for all the programs. To sign up, call 1-734-782-3956.

The "Crack O' Dawn Coffee Club" will meet for coffee, doughnuts and a nature walk at 7 a.m. tomorrow at the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center of Lake Erie Metropark in Brownstown Township. Donations are accepted.

Preschool- and kindergarten-aged children can make "Critter Contact" at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. Get up close and personal with the animals, and make critter crafts for $2.

Keep an eye out for signs of animals during "Walk This Way Track Trek" at 2 p.m. Sunday. There is a $2 a person fee.

Children ages 7 to 17 can tee up with golf lessons from The First Tee of Detroit during a three-day golf camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18 to 20.

Students will learn putting, chipping, pitching and full swing, as well as rules, safety and etiquette of the game for $110.

Aspiring golfers also get a hat and T-shirt, daily snacks and an identification card. No golfing experience is required.

Summer fun is on tap at Bacon Memorial District Library, 45 Vinewood, Wyandotte.

Children in sixth grade and up can get creative by transforming old books into works of art at 1 p.m. Wednesday. All supplies are provided.

Wendy Rollin, also known as The Piano Lady, brings a musical adventure of imagination, movement and song to the library at 3 p.m. July 17.

The free program is suitable for all ages. Call the library at 1-734-246-8357 to learn more.

The Romulus Historical Society is having a "Party in the Park" from 6:30 p.m. until dusk July 16 in the Romulus Historical Park next to the Romulus Post Office, 11000 Hunter St.

The free event will feature refreshments, tours of the Wabash Freight House and historic Kingsley House and the music of yesteryear from Phil Renke.

Enjoy "Movies in the Park" at dusk July 12 at Willow Metropark in Huron Township.

Movies also will be shown July 26 and Aug. 9. Call the park at 1-734-691-9181 for movie information.

Get your fill of classic cars and hotrods from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13 during the 2008 Car Show at the park.

Disc jockey Steve Kozmor will spin oldies and the Rock 'N' Roll K-9s will show off their skills during two shows between noon and 4 p.m.

Car owners can register on the day of the show beginning at 8 a.m. There are no entry fees, but vehicles must be on site by 12:30 p.m. to be eligible for prizes.

The 47th annual Wyandotte Street Art Fair takes over downtown Wyandotte from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through July 12.

The festival features more than 250 artists' booths, a children's emporium, food, music and entertainment along Biddle Avenue.

Businesses will host sidewalk sales, and the Riverfront Entertainment Court will host musical acts for every taste, from ? And the Mysterians to Sherman Arnold to Fifty Amp Fuse.

The Wyandotte Jaycees will host its annual "Beautiful Baby" contest, and an open casting call will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Bishop Park for the reality show "Survivor."

The 2nd Annual 'Dotte Arts Project, an emerging artist area in the fair, will feature everything from painting and filmmaking to fashion design and photography on First Street between Elm and Maple.

Celebrate summer with the annual Meijer Taylor Summer Festival at Heritage Park, 12111 Pardee Road, Thursday through July 13.

Among the festival highlights this year will be performances from The Charlie Daniels Band, Terri Clark and "American Idol" finalist Josh Gracin.

Taylor teen Lynnae Winnie and Justine Blazer will join Clark and Gracin in free concerts next Friday before the Masco Fireworks light up the sky at dusk.

The Charlie Daniels Band with guests Confederate Railroad, Emily West and Red Hill will take the stage July 12.

Tickets for the shows are on sale for $10 at www.ticketmaster.com and Meijer stores in Taylor, Allen Park, Southgate and Woodhaven.

The annual festival features four days of carnival rides, games, events, entertainment, food, beverages and family fun.

The gates of Heritage Park's concert area will open at 3 p.m. next Friday and July 12. There will be parking on site and at satellite locations with shuttle bus service to Heritage Park.

Take in the sights and sounds of Wyandotte during the annual Home and Garden Trolley Tour on July 19.

Tickets are $12 and available at the Ford-MacNichol Home, 2610 Biddle Ave., Wyandotte.

Henry Ford Community College is offering free planetarium shows Tuesdays in the science building on HFCC's main campus, 5101 Evergreen Road, Dearborn.

Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and close at show time.

Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, and no latecomers will be admitted for safety reasons.
