MUSIC TO YOUR EARS



Tickets are on sale for Kansas, REO Speedwagon and The Cheetah Girls, all appearing at this year's Meijer Taylor Summer Festival, North Line at Pardee.

The festival offers three days and nights of paid and free concerts July 13 - 15. Among the highlights are Kansas and REO Speedwagon July 14 and The Cheetah Girls July 15.

Tickets for each show are $20 in advance, $30 the days of the shows. Advance tickets are now available at the Taylor Meijer store, 14640 Pardee, and at all Ticketmaster outlets.

Tickets are not available at other Meijer locations.

Huron Valley Eagles Aerie 3732, 13636 Telegraph, Flat Rock, presents bluegrass music at 8 p.m. Saturdays.

This week, Marion Blue sets the tone.

Tickets are $7. Children 12 and younger get in free with a parent. There also will be a spaghetti dinner available for $5 a person.

The Taylor Town Trade Center, 22525 Ecorse Road, presents "The Taylor Town Opry," live music from 2 to 5 p.m. every Friday.

The concerts are free. All ages are welcome.

Enjoy an evening of music after a day out in nature at Willow Metropark near New Boston with family-oriented shows at the park's Activity Center.

Bring your dancing shoes and swing your partner with square dancing at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at the outdoor dance pavilion.

The park's Summer Music Series opens with Kids Fun Day and The Rick Leider Band from 1 to 5 p.m. tomorrow.

June 30 is Country Music Night, featuring the Cadillac Cowboys from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

A July 4 concert will include The Cadets from 5 - 7:30 p.m. and The Fantastics from 8 - 11 p.m., with an intermission for fireworks.

July 21 is Polka Fest, featuring The Brass Express at 6 p.m. and Touch of Brass at 8 p.m.

All the musical events are free with regular park admission.

Southgate's Concerts in the Park Series begins with the Ed Zelenak Orchestra playing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Other concerts include Vocal Point from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 25, and the Downriver Community Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21.

The concerts are held on the front lawn outside city hall, 14400 Dix-Toledo Road.

The Lincoln Park Summer Concert Series brings a variety of music to Memorial Park all summer long. Each concert takes place from 7 to 9 p.m.

This year's lineup includes One Beat Back Band (swing and Big Band) June 28, Street Corner (part of the Cruisin' Downriver celebration) June 30, The String Doctor (swing/folk) July 5, Dr. Dixie and the All Stars (parlor-style Dixieland) July 12, The Birmingham Concert Band July 19, The Coal Dusters (bluegrass) July 26, Kentucky Chrome (western) Aug. 2 and The Ed Zelenak Band (variety/dance music) Aug. 9.

The concerts are free.

Sit back under a tree with an ice-cold lemonade and enjoy the interactive, kid-friendly music at the "Lemonade and Shade Concerts" at the Trenton Cultural Center, 2427 West Road.

The series includes concerts by The Earth Angels Thursday, Mr. Joel's Songbag July 19 and The Candy Band Aug. 16.

Each of the free concerts begins at 3:30 p.m.

What better way to chill out on summer nights than to bring a chair or blanket and sip coffee under the stars as you listen to music at the Outdoor Coffeehouse Concert Series at the Trenton Cultural Center, 2427 West Road.

Concerts include a Frank Sinatra Tribute Thursday, The Satin Dolls July 19 and The Hummingbirds Aug. 6.

The concerts all begin at 7 p.m. and are free.

Riverview has free Concerts in the Park from 7:30 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday in July in Young Patriots Park.

The schedule includes Rea Deal, a 14-piece Big Band that plays swing to Motown to Tony Bennett, July 4; Twistin' Tarantulas with their unique jump-blues, rockabilly sound July 11; Rick Lieder's Margaritaville setting sails on a musical tropical cruise July 18; and The Fantastics, blends the best of '50s through '90s music July 26.

Wyandotte Waterside Concerts take place all summer from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Bishop Park.

This summer's concerts include Danceland on Wednesday, Rich Eddy's Rockin' Oldies Band July 18, The Downriver Community Band July 25, Mood Swings Aug. 1 and Pelts and Company Aug. 15.

The concerts are free.

Legendary singing group New Edition will bring its smooth R&B sound to Detroit's Fox Theatre at 8 p.m. today. Special guests K-CI & JOJO are set to open the show. Tickets are $48, $68 and $78.

Maze featuring Frankie Beverly will perform at the Fox at 8 p.m. June 30 with special guest Keith Sweat. Tickets are $68, $78 and $103.

Classic rockers Creedence Clearwater Revisited will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $34.50 pavilion and $10 lawn.

"Motor City Madman" Ted Nugent rocks out at the theater at 7:30 p.m. next Friday. Tickets are $39.50 pavilion and $15 lawn.

Rock greats Chicago and America will make a stop at DTE at 7:30 p.m. June 29. Tickets are $59.50 pavilion and $28 lawn.

Grammy Award-winning guitarist/singer/songwriter Norman Brown brings his Summer Storm Tour to Chene Park Amphitheater, 2600 Atwater, Detroit, at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

John Mayer will perform at the Palace of Auburn Hills July 5.

The Vans Warped Tour 2007 will make a stop at the Comerica Park parking lots on July 27.
