Enjoy "Birding by Canoe" from 8 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at Oakwoods Metropark near Flat Rock. A fee of $4 a person applies. Bring binoculars for the best viewing from Oakwoods' 34-foot canoe.

Tadpoles, for children ages 2 to 5, can participate in "Pond Study" featuring stories and crafts at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Nature Center. Fee is $4.

And Nature Nuts, for children ages 6 to 10, will study birds at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Fee is $4.

"Historical Oakwoods" is the theme of the 10 a.m. program tomorrow at the nature center. Cost is $2.

And "Homeschool Monday" at 10 a.m. Monday will feature "Turdology: The Scoop on Poop." The fee is $3 a student.

Get a head start on hot weather with "Summer Kick-Off" from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14 at the nature center. Enjoy programs throughout the day and learn about butterflies, birds, fishing and more from local organizations.

Reel in some fun during a "Fishing Fun Camp" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 5 to 8 for children ages 8 to 15. The fee is $75 a child and $60 for each additional child.

The "Crack 'O Dawn Coffee Club" will meet at 7 a.m. tomorrow at the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center of Lake Erie Metropark for java, a doughnut and a leisurely nature walk. Donations are accepted.

Preschool- and kindergarten-age children are invited to make "Critter Contact" at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. Fee is $2.

And June's "Make it at the Marsh" project will be a screened insect cage with instructions on how to raise some common butterfly larvae. Fee is $5, and the class takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday.

A "Salute to America Appreciation Day" will be held June 14, featuring free American flags and complimentary use of some facilities and programs.

The Rock 'n' Roll Canines will entertain during two shows from noon to 5 p.m. and a variety of pet-related organizations will have pet care and health information on hand. Dogs on leashes are welcomed with their owners. Call 1-734-379-5020 for more information.

Kindergarteners through third-graders are invited to explore nature and history during "Muskrat Club: Face the Fishes" at 10:30 a.m. June 14. Learn about local fish for $2 a child.

Go for a "Sunday Sunset Stroll" with a park interpreter at 6:30 p.m. June 15 to discover how birds, plants and insects come to life in the early evening. The fee is $2 a person.

Mini-classes on fish ecology and techniques, along with some actual fishing time, will be part of "Kids 'n' Fish" at 10 a.m. June 21. Lunch, prizes and awards also are part of the fun for ages 5 to 12. There is a $5 fee per child.

Children ages 7 to 17 can tee up with golf lessons from The First Tee of Detroit during a three-day golf camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18 to 20 at the metropark.

Students will learn putting, chipping, pitching and full swing as well as rules, safety and etiquette of the game for a $110 fee.

Aspiring golfers also get a hat and T-shirt, daily snacks and an identification card. No previous golfing experience is required.

The first summer festival at the newly formed Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 6442 Pelham Road, Taylor, takes over the church fairgrounds next Friday through June 15.

The festival features carnival rides, entertainment, games, ethnic foods and hourly 50/50 drawings, along with a $12,000 grand prize drawing.

Entertainment includes The Reflections from 7 to 11 p.m. next Friday; D.J. Rick from 2 to 5 p.m. June 14 followed by The Trilogy Band from 7 to 11 p.m.; and a polka mass at noon June 15, followed by Misty Blues from 1 to 5 p.m. and Steve King and the Dittilies from 6 to 10 p.m.

Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. next Friday, 2 to 11 p.m. June 14 and 1 to 10 p.m. June 15.

Greenfield Village in Dearborn is offering a host of special programs and activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Model T.

Centennial activities include Model T rides, a Model T medley concert, an old car festival and presentations about Henry Ford's life and achievements.

Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $19 for senior citizens ages 62 and older and $14 for children ages 5 to 12. Children younger than age 5 are admitted free.

The "Eyes on Design" car show, focusing on innovation technology and design, runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 15 at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House with 200 cars in 15 categories on display.

The "Motor Muster" car show with more than 500 cars from the 1930s to 1970s, including a section of T-bucket hot rods from the '50s and '60s, takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14 and 15 at The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village.

Model T owners can visit Greenfield Village with their Tin Lizzies from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 16 to Sept. 28. A special ticket package includes two admissions, access to drive and park the vehicle in the village, $20 in fun money, a commemorative gift and a special photo opportunity.

Celebrate the centennial anniversary with "Lunch and 'T' at the Henry Ford Estate" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 21, July 5, July 26 and Aug. 30.

Enjoy a commemorative tour of Henry Ford's powerhouse and garage, view his personal vehicles and get an in-depth look at a 1916 running Model T, along with lunch in the historic Tea House in Clara's Rose Garden.

Henry Ford Community College is offering free planetarium shows Tuesdays in the science building on HFCC's campus, 5101 Evergreen Road, Dearborn.

"Nothing Gold Can Stay - A Spring Star Talk" takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through June 17. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and close at show time.

Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, and no latecomers will be admitted for safety reasons.

"SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasure" is docked through Sept. 1. at The Detroit Science Center.

Dive into the search, recovery and conservation process of deep-ocean treasure and artifacts.

Priceless historical artifacts from the SS Republic, the greatest shipwreck treasure of the Civil War era, are on display.

Visitors also can pilot a real robot submersible, learn pirate lore and battle the forces of nature in a 75-mile-per-hour hurricane tube.

Walk the same floors as Henry Ford, the Dodge brothers, James Couzens and other auto pioneers, where the first 10,000 Tin Lizzies were manufactured before the advent of the assembly line.

A National Historic Landmark, the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month through October. Admission is $10, with free admission for ages 16 and younger.
