'Pass the Ducks'
Players Guild of Dearborn, 21730 Madison, will have auditions for the comedy show "Pass the Ducks" at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
This original production, written by and to be directed by Brian Townsend, is an evening of sketch comedy, a la "The Carol Burnett Show" or "SCTV." Sketches include an art historian whose love of Michelangelo's "David" takes her places she'd never expected; a young couple who meet at a wedding reception as both she and he jump for the bouquet; a one-night stand that becomes one big catastrophe; a principal who realizes his school's funding might only be saved by a foul-mouthed student; and a befuddled old woman who befuddles death.
Roles are available for up to four men and four women, ages 18 and older. The cast will play a variety of roles over the course of the show, so strong character development is a plus.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare a one-minute comedic monologue. There will be cold readings from the script, as well. You must be registered by 8:30 p.m. to audition on either evening. Those auditioning need not attend both sessions.
Out of respect for others that are auditioning, those attending are asked to refrain from bringing young children to the auditions.
The scheduled production dates are 8 p.m. June 22, 23, 29 and 30. Be prepared to list all potential rehearsal conflicts on the audition form.
