The Marshlands Museum and Nature Center at Lake Erie Metropark will offer Easter Week Short Takes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through April 21. Drop in for hands-on activities and crafts, with a different theme each day — "WoodWays," "Track Day," "Fascinating Fish," "Muskrat Mania" and "Bunches of Bones."

Tickets are $5, plus a vehicle entry fee. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Call 1-734-379-5020 or 1-800-477-3189.

The Detroit Audubon Society will co-sponsor "Timberdoodle Trek - The American Woodcock" at 7 p.m. today at The Nature Center at Oakwoods Metropark.

There is no fee, but donations are requested.

The Early Birders Gang will be at the park at 9 a.m. tomorrow for a fun morning of birding. Birders of all levels are welcome. Again donations will be accepted.

"Tadpoles," for children ages 2 - 5, has its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. tomorrow. This month's theme is "Building a Nest." There is a $4 fee per child.

"Nature N.U.T.S.," for children ages 6 - 11, has its monthly get-together at 11 a.m. tomorrow. "Awesome Amphibians" is the theme. There is a $4 fee per child.

At 2 p.m. tomorrow, "Huron River Fish" explores the hidden beauty of the river. There is a $3 fee.

The Crack O' Dawn Coffee Club lives up to its name at 7 a.m. tomorrow at the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center in Lake Erie Metropark.

Start the weekend with coffee, doughnuts and a walk in the park. There is a $2 fee.

The Muskrat Club, for kindergartners through third-graders, has its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. This time, the theme is "April Showers." Learn about rain, water cycles, weather and rainbows. There is a $2 fee per child.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, a two-part program called "A Way with Clay -- Native Pottery Workshop" begins. Learn about American Indian clay pot making methods, see examples and make your own pot. There is a $15 fee.

"Critter Contact," for preschool and kindergarten-age children is at 10:30 a.m. April 21. Take a close look at a park animal, test eyeball skills and make a craft. There is a $2 fee per child.

Heritage Decorative Artists of Southeast Michigan, a chapter of the International Society of Decorative Painters, meets bimonthly at the Westfield Activities Center, 2700 Westfield Road, Trenton.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The group shares ideas and new painting techniques in addition to sponsoring painting seminars with well-known teachers. West Suburban Stamp Club presents the 38th annual Plymouth Stamp Show from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. April 28 and from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. April 29 at Central Middle School, 650 Church St., Plymouth.

With more than 2,800 pages on display, this is the largest stamp show in Michigan, and is the only one on the American Philatelic Society's "World Series of Philately" show circuit.

Admission and parking are free

The Polka Booster Club of America will have a "Hello Spring Dance" April 29 at the Msgr. Hunt Knights of Columbus Hall, 7080 Garling, Dearborn Heights.

The doors open at 1 p.m., with dancing from 2 to 6 p.m. to music by Jerry Robotka.

Admission is $12, and includes beer, wine and soft drinks. No BYOB.

The Palace of Auburn Hills welcomes back the "Toughest Sport on Dirt" - the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Invitational at 8 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Tickets are $25, $30 and $50 and are on sale at Palacenet.com, Livenation.com, The Palace box office and all Ticketmaster locations. All tickets are $2 more the day of the show. Children's discounts are available.

Thomas the Tank Engine rolls in to Greenfield Village for a "Day out With Thomas 2007: All Aboard Tour" April 21 and 22 and again April 25 to 29.

Take a 25-minute ride on Thomas, have a photo taken with Sir Topham Hatt and visit the Imagination Station.

Thomas the Tank Engine will depart every 30 minutes, rain or shine, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.

Tickets are $10.75 for ages 2 and up and $ 24.75 for ages 5-12, which include Greenfield Village admission.

Henry Ford Museum is presenting "The Eames Lounge Chair: An Icon of Modern Design," through April 29.

This traveling exhibit, organized by the Grand Rapids Art Museum and Herman Miller Inc., features more than 30 objects from the creative design partnership of Charles and Ray Eames, the duo who revolutionized the world of furniture design in form and function.

Henry Ford Museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Admission is $14 for adults, $13 for seniors and $10 for youths.
