'Idol Challenge'
Singers ages 8 to 17 can take that first step to stardom by auditioning for the "Idol Challenge," a singing competition to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. May 27 at Southgate Heritage Days.
Auditions for singers ages 8 to 12 will be held Sunday as well as April 22 and May 20. Auditions for ages 13 to 17 will take place April 15 and 29 and May 6. All of the auditions will be at the Southgate Community Players' Corner Playhouse, 12671 Dix-Toledo Road.
Registration at each audition session starts at 11:30 a.m. Auditions will run until 3 p.m.
Three people will be selected from each audition to compete.
Prizes for the 8- to 12-year-old category include a first-prize "bounce" party for 10 children. Second prize is a $100 gift card, and third prize is a $50 gift card.
For the 13- to 17-year-old category, first prize is an opportunity to record a CD at Zeta Recording, plus a $100 gift card. Second prize is a $100 gift card, and third prize is a $50 gift card.
The cost to register is $20 per person per audition. Registration is open to the first 35 children at each audition. They must bring proof of age.
