The Trenton Rotary Club's annual Wildlife Art Day brings the great outdoors indoors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 25 at Crystal Gardens, 16703 Fort St., Southgate.


The art of Teri Gillespie will be part of the displays at the Trenton Rotary Club's annual Wildlife Art Day March 25.

The day includes workshops, demonstrations and sales. The highlight is nature-themed artwork, including paintings, carvings, taxidermy and more by dozens of the area's top wildlife artists.

The show is sponsored by the Trenton Rotary Club's Tom Shumate Endowment for the Arts Fund. Admission is free; a light lunch will be served.

The Southgate Community Players are having a 50th birthday party and everyone is invited. The party starts at 7 p.m. March 24 at The Grecian Center, 16300 Dix-Toledo Road, Southgate.

The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and then a show featuring songs from the group's 50-year history. The evening will end with coffee and dessert.

The Healthy Downriver Family Expo, "Empowering Parents of the 21st Century," will be hosted by the Holiday Inn, 17201 North Line Road, Southgate from 10 a.m. to l2 p.m. March 24.

There will be a keynote speaker, and lunches will be served for the first 200 people who are attending the keynote presentation at noon.

The event, sponsored by Holiday Inn of Southgate, Heritage Newspapers, The Colina Foundation, Wyandotte and Southgate schools, Comcast and Kiwanis Clubs, will feature family entertainment and tables filled with resources to help Downriver families.

There will be free drawings for prizes, including a family season pass to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, a night's lodging and breakfast for a family at the Holiday Inn in Southgate, and a season family swim pass at the YMCA of Southgate.

The Csipke Ensemble is sponsoring a Hungarian Village Wedding at 5 p.m. March 24 at the Trenton Village Theater, 2447 W. Jefferson.

See an onstage re-creation of a traditional rural Hungarian wedding, complete with authentic costuming, singing and dancing.

The event also will include appetizers before the performance; desserts after the performance; and beer, wine and refreshments.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for ages 5 to 12. Besides providing an entertaining rendition of one of the most joyous of Hungarian folk events, the event is a fund-raiser for the Csipke Ensemble's regional Hungarian dance camp in Sauk Valley, starting July 21.

Tomorrow is "Pancake Breakfast and Maple Syrup Day" at Oakwoods Metropark's Nature Center. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Learn about the history of maple syrup and see some get tapped from the source. There is a $6 fee for adults, $4 for children age 6 and younger.

Start St. Patrick's Day with a "Blarney Marnin' Walk" at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center at Lake Erie Metropark.

Bring your prized antique dust collectors to the "Museum Road Show" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Marshland Museum and Nature Center and get a historical review of them. Participants will get a written history assessment of their objects at a later time. There is a $2 fee

The Lincoln Park Recreation Department offers Family Dinner Theatre at the Kennedy Memorial Building, 3240 Ferris.

Dinner is served at 6 p.m. and the performances begin at 6:30 p.m., with Bobo the Clown warming up the crowd.

Next Friday, comedian and magician Jasen Magic performs.

The Friends of the Detroit River are holding their annual "Keep the Boat Afloat" Riverkeeper Fund-raiser March 24 at the Wyandotte Boat Club, 1 Pine St., Wyandotte.

FDR is a grassroots organization dedicated to protecting the Detroit River. Proceeds from the event will help fund the Riverkeeper program for the upcoming season and keep the Riverkeeper patrol boat out on the river.

Included with the dinner will be a cash bar, music, raffle and silent auction. Advance tickets are $35 per couple, $20 for individuals and $10 for children under 12.

The 17th annual Michigan Railroad Memorabilia Show takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the St. Albert the Great School gym, 4855 Parker, Dearborn Heights.

These aren't toys or models. This is about real railroad memorabilia, with more than 65 vendors with train-related artifacts, antiques and conversation pieces, as well as art, photos and books.

Admission is $3 per person or $6 for the whole family.

Lake Erie Metropark will host its annual Easter Egg Scramble at 10 a.m. April 7 at the park's wave pool complex.

The Easter Muskrat will spread joy and hundreds of candy-filled Easter eggs to guests. There also will be wagon rides, an egg hunt, petting zoo, a craft station and snacks.

Thomas the Tank Engine rolls in to Greenfield Village for a "Day out With Thomas 2007: All Aboard Tour" April 21 and 22 and again April 25 to 29.

Take a 25-minute ride on Thomas, have a photo taken with Sir Topham Hatt, visit the Imagination Station

Thomas the Tank Engine will depart every 30 minutes, rain or shine, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.

Tickets are $10.75 for ages 2 and up and $24.75 for ages 5-12, which include Greenfield Village admission.

Henry Ford Museum is presenting "The Eames Lounge Chair: An Icon of Modern Design," through April 29.

This traveling exhibit, organized by the Grand Rapids Art Museum and Herman Miller Inc., features more than 30 objects from the creative design partnership of Charles and Ray Eames, the duo who revolutionized the world of furniture design in form and function.

"Our Body: The Universe Within," an eye-opening and educational exhibition of actual human bodies and organs, is making its Midwest debut at The New Detroit Science Center, 5020 John R St.

Including approximately 20 bodies and 135 other anatomical displays, the exhibit exposes the inner workings of human anatomy by presenting actual human specimens, reproductions of historic anatomical artwork and much more. By presenting an artful, compelling and dignified environment, guests will be able to connect with the human artifacts on a personal level that will help them to better understand their own bodies.

Tickets are $24.95 for adults, $22.95 for seniors and $19.95 for children, which includes Science Center general admission. Children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors may add the IMAX Dome Theatre film "The Human Body" for an additional $3 for adults and $2 for children and seniors with the purchase of a ticket to "Our Body: The Universe Within."
