CASTING CALLS

'Sounds & Sights'

Musicians and singers, street performers and all manner of entertainers are sought for "Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights" in downtown Chelsea.

The Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce will hold open auditions for interested musicians and street entertainers from 4 to 8 p.m. March 26 at the Common Grill restaurant, 112 S. Main St.

Entering its fourth season, Sounds & Sights has grown from a single performer each Thursday night in 2004 to as many as 12 acts expected to perform simultaneously each Thursday from June 21 to Aug. 30.

Last year. an estimated 1,500 visitors strolled through downtown Chelsea each Thursday night. Staged areas are set up around downtown Chelsea to accommodate the performances. In addition to the musical acts, there are guided horse-drawn carriage rides, jugglers, magicians, fire-eaters, balloon artists and food vendors.

There are more than 70 paying spots to be filled this season.

Each entrant will have an opportunity to perform in front of three judges on one of three stages.
