'Sounds & Sights'
Musicians and singers, street performers and all manner of entertainers are sought for "Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights" in downtown Chelsea.
The Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce will hold open auditions for interested musicians and street entertainers from 4 to 8 p.m. March 26 at the Common Grill restaurant, 112 S. Main St.
Entering its fourth season, Sounds & Sights has grown from a single performer each Thursday night in 2004 to as many as 12 acts expected to perform simultaneously each Thursday from June 21 to Aug. 30.
Last year. an estimated 1,500 visitors strolled through downtown Chelsea each Thursday night. Staged areas are set up around downtown Chelsea to accommodate the performances. In addition to the musical acts, there are guided horse-drawn carriage rides, jugglers, magicians, fire-eaters, balloon artists and food vendors.
There are more than 70 paying spots to be filled this season.
Each entrant will have an opportunity to perform in front of three judges on one of three stages.

'Hair'
Ann Arbor Civic Theatre will have auditions for the rock musical "Hair," to be directed by Caitlin Frankel, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. March 24 and from noon - 4 p.m. March 25, with callbacks, if needed, from 7 - 10 p.m. March 26. All auditions take place at A2CT's Rehearsal Studio, 322 W. Ann St.
"Hair" is the classic pro-love, anti-war anthem to the turbulent American experience of the 1960s. There are lead roles for four women and six men, plus a featured ensemble of seven women and five men. Character ages range from 18 - 60.
Those auditioning need attend only one of the regular audition dates but must be available for callbacks. No preregistration is required.
Those auditioning need to prepare a song from "Hair" specific to the character for which they are auditioning; music is available online at www.a2ct.org or at the A2CT office. There also will be cold readings from the script and dancing for those interested in dancing roles.
Production dates are June 7-10 at The Lydia Mendelssohn Theater.
