One of the key parts of the creative rock scene of the 1970s, Chicago built a loyal fan base thanks to its horn-induced jam-rock style.

But by the early '80s, changes in pop music — along with the accidental death of the band's heart and soul, guitarist Terry Kath — left the group in limbo, lacking leadership and direction.

Enter famed producer David Foster, who took the reins and, along with the emergence of bassist/vocalist Peter Cetera as the band's main voice, directed the group to a fresh, radio-friendly sound.

The result was a pair of records, 16 (1982) and 17 (1994) that spawned some of the group's biggest hits to date, including "You're the Inspiration," 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry/Get Away" and "Hard Habit to Break."

Rhino has reissued the famed pair of discs, each featuring a bonus track, remastered sound and enhanced artwork. Let them tide you over until the summer, when you know Chicago will return for its annual party in Detroit.
