Women's history comes alive during the Women's History Festival today through March 16 on Grosse Ile.
Presented by the Women's History Project Committee, the celebration kicks off with a screening of "Iron Jawed Angels" at 7:15 p.m. today in the Grosse Ile High School auditorium, 7800 Grays Drive. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a reception to honor Grosse Ile women who have made a difference.
Actress Judy Dery depicts notable women throughout history at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. James Episcopal Church, 25150 East River Road. Lisette Dennison, a former slave and St. James member who lived on Grosse Ile, is paid tribute by Mark McPherson during a special presentation at 4 p.m. March 16 at the church.

Sample some tasty brews and learn the ins and outs of making beer during "Art of the Brew," a fund-raising event for the Downriver Council for the Arts, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fort Street Brewery, 1660 Fort St., Lincoln Park.
Guests will enjoy unlimited finely brewed beers, along with dinner, dessert, a cash bar for non-brew selections and musical entertainment.
A brewery tour and presentation also are planned, along with the exhibit and sale of hand-painted beer glasses by Downriver artists.

"Quilting Genius 2: The Improvisational Quilts of Susana Hunter" is on display through April 27 at the Henry Ford Museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn.
