A free Children's Winter Film Festival starts tomorrow and continues every Saturday and Sunday through March 16 at the MJR Southgate Cinema 20, 15651 Trenton Road, and Allen Park Cinema, 6601 Allen Road, Allen Park.

"Bee Movie" hits the screen tomorrow and Sunday, followed by "Mr. Magnorium's Wonder Emporium" March 1 and 2; "Alvin & the Chipmunks" March 8 and 9; and "The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" March 15 and 16.

The program is free for children ages 12 and younger. Adults pay $1. Advanced tickets are not available.

Dream Machine Concerts with Carey Ann the Clown and Mister Ro takes the stage at noon tomorrow at the Westfield Activities Center, 2700 Westfield, Trenton.

"Quilting Sunday" from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday offers beginners and advanced quilters a chance to lay out a quilt top or do some piecing as part of the informal Quilters Guild.

"Quilting Genius 2: The Improvisational Quilts of Susana Hunter" is on display through April 27 at the Henry Ford Museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn.

The exhibit, which is free with museum admission, features nearly 30 improvisational quilts by Susana Allen Hunter, an African-American quilter from Alabama.

Henry Ford Community College is offering free planetarium shows throughout the winter, beginning with "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening - A Winter Star Talk" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the science building on HFCC's campus, 5101 Evergreen Road., Dearborn.

How many planets are in our solar system? What is the definition of a planet? The New Detroit Science Center's Dassault Systemes Planetarium presents the new show "Nine Eight Planets and Counting."

New discoveries beyond Pluto are challenging and changing the concept of a planet. The show will present this continuing debate in an open-ended manner, while taking audiences on a tour of the solar system. The show runs through February.

"Disney's High School Musical: The Ice Tour" skates into The Palace of Auburn Hills next Friday through March 2.

Based on the wildly popular Disney Channel movies, the ice spectacular re-creates life at the fictional East High School. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 29, 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. March 1 and 3:30 p.m. March 2.
