'Godspell'

Wyandotte Community Theatre will hold auditions for the musical "Godspell" from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 1325 Champaign, Lincoln Park.

Groundbreaking and controversial when it debuted, "Godspell" has stood the test of time, drawing from various theatrical traditions such as pantomine, charades and vaudeville, not mention Stephen Schwartz's memorable score, in its retelling of the Gospel according to St. Matthew.

This production, to be directed by Mary Zaleski, with vocals and musical direction by Joe Palmer and choreography by Molly Zaleski, will be performed May 4, 5, 11 and 12 at the Wilson Middle School auditorium, 1275 15th St., Wyandotte.

Those planning on auditioning must be able to play ages 17 to 28 with high energy. Come prepared to sing a song other than one from the show, to learn a dance and do a reading from the script. This show consists of a 13-member cast and no chorus.
