TALK OF THE TOWN

The Wyandotte Historical Society will welcome Bob Wittersheim to talk about the brickmaking industry at its general meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Marx Home, 2630 Biddle Ave.

Wittersheim will discuss the history of brickmaking and audience members are invited to bring bricks and share their history. Refreshments will be available after the program.

The importance of bee colonies in the environment will be the focus of a talk by professional beekeeper Mike Sautter at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Copeland Center, 2306 Fourth St., Wyandotte.

Sautter will talk about the workings of a bee colony and the threats posed by colony collapse.

The free event is sponsored by the Downriver Ambassadors Toastmaster Club and the Wyandotte Jaycees.

Trenton's "On Stage" speaker series at the Trenton Village Theatre, 2447 W. Jefferson, features entertaining and informative local speakers of interest.

On Tuesday, Trenton resident Bill Jasman will share his travel adventures to Nicaragua.

The series wraps up April 15 with Ray Hunter Jr., who will share "What's New This Year" in the gardening world just in time for spring planting.

Tickets are $5 per presentation in advance and can be purchased at the Trenton Parks and Recreation Department at the Kennedy Recreation Center. Tickets are $6 at the door.

After the presentations, ticket stubs are good for 10 percent to 20 percent off lunch at several of Trenton's participating restaurants.

Noted psychiatrist and marriage counselor Scott Haltzman, author of a new book, "The Secrets of Happily Married Women: How to Get More Out of Your Relationship by Doing Less," will be the keynote speaker at the National Marriage Dinner Date from 6 to 9 p.m. next Friday at Kochoff Hall on the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus, 4091 Evergreen Road.

Haltzman, a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown University, will offer unique and well-researched tips to lessen the drama and enhance romance in relationships.
