Tony Bennett & Julio Iglesias
One is an American legend, a jazzy voice that has entertained listeners of all ages for the last six decades; the other, a Latin pop superstar who became the best-selling Spanish singer of all-time.
What's the common thread? Both Tony Bennett and Julio Iglesias have classic albums that, luckily enough, Sony Legacy has reissued with updated sound, artwork and bonus tracks.
Bennett's I Left My Heart in San Francisco (1962), Perfectly Frank (1992) and, an absolute essential, 1994's MTV Unplugged, which signaled the crooner's great comeback, have all been updated to honor his 80th birthday for yet another generation to appreciate.
While most younger listeners probably know the name Iglesias from Enrique, the difference between him and his dad was, well, one of them really can sing.
And Julio's star will shine on with the reissuing of 1996's Tango and 1984's 1100 Bel Air Place, the latter being the LP that broke him in the United States thanks to duets with Diana Ross, The Beach Boys and, of course, Willie Nelson on "To All the Girls I've Loved Before."
All would make great additions to the truly well-rounded CD collection.
