The Longhorn World Championship Rodeo returns to The Palace of Auburn Hills with "Hats Off To America" at 8 p.m. Feb. 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. Feb. 18.

At 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Nature Center, everyone is invited to take a "Winter Discovery Hike" through the park, possibly on snowshoes if Mother Nature cooperates. Cost is $2.

Lake Erie Metropark is offering "New Year, Old Stuff" at 2 p.m. tomorrow, a chance to help staff review items donated to the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center and re-examine some of the more fascinating things in storage.

The review promises to be a "trip" through nature and history, and often a venture into the weird.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, you can "Freeze Your Tail Off" on a winter nature walk to explore for animal tracks, bald eagles, winter owls, tundra swans, seed pods and more. Dress warmly. Cost is $2.

The Downriver Council for the Arts presents "January Jazz & All That Wine" from 6 - 8 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Holiday Inn Southgate, 17201 North Line Road.

The night will be a bistro-style celebration with music by Hubbell Street Jazz, beer and wine tastings, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and a live auction featuring a trip for two to Napa Valley.

Tickets are $50 per person. Sponsor tickets are $100 per person and include a bottle of fine wine and $10 in raffle tickets. All proceeds will support DCA programs and services.

The Polka Booster Club of America is having its "Inaugural Dance" Sunday at the Msgr. Hunt Knights of Columbus Hall, 7080 Garling Drive, Dearborn Heights.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m., with dinner at 1:30 and dancing from 3 - 7 p.m., with music by Big Daddy.

The Detroit Opera House will have a meeting from 6 - 9 p.m. Jan. 24 for those interested in being volunteer ushers in 2007.

The next "Poetry Slam at The Max" will up the ante when the 2006 Individual World Poetry Slam Champion Mike McGee performs at 8 p.m. Thursday in Allesee Hall at the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward, Detroit.

Poetry Slams at The Max, sponsored by Starbucks Coffee, welcome the area's finest spoken-word artists for a series of monthly slams that culminate in a finals competition.

Our Body: The Universe Within, an eye-opening and educational exhibition of actual human bodies and organs, will make its Midwest debut at The New Detroit Science Center Jan. 13.

Including approximately 20 bodies and 135 other anatomical displays, Our Body: The Universe Within exposes the inner workings of human anatomy by presenting actual human specimens, reproductions of historic anatomical artwork and much more. By presenting an artful, compelling and dignified environment, guests will be able to connect with the human artifacts on a personal level that will help them to better understand their own bodies.

Tickets are $24.95 for adults, $22.95 for seniors and $19.95 for children, which includes Science Center general admission. Children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors may add the IMAX Dome Theatre film "The Human Body" for an additional $3 for adults and $2 for children and seniors with the purchase of a ticket to Our Body: The Universe Within. The Detroit Children's Museum, 6134 Second Ave., Detroit, will present "Drum Major for Peace," a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. for children 6 and older, at 2 p.m.

Say, duffers, don't let a little thing like winter keep you off the links. The regulation golf courses at Lake Erie Metropark and Willow Metropark are open year-round, course conditions permitting.

Rates are $11 regular, $9 for seniors through March 30 with no tee-time reservations required. Golf carts are available for rent, depending on course conditions, and handcarts also are available for rent.

Smucker's Stars on Ice presents "Double Exposure: The Many Lives of Figure Skaters" at the Palace of Auburn Hills at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9.

Tickets are $23 reserved, $16 general admission and are on sale at Palacenet.com, The Palace box office and all Ticketmaster locations. Special VIP seating also is available. All seats for opening night are $12 in advance and $14 at the door, except for VIP seating. Children 12 and younger, seniors 62 and older and Scouts get tickets for half price Feb. 18.
